Alternative Wedding Photography – Highlights of 2016

Putting together a “Best Of” set of photos is always something of a daunting task. How on earth do you choose, when your job is taking photos of special moments and special people on a very wonderful day? In the end I decided just to go with my gut and pick photos of moments I loved, expressions that made me happy, and photos that felt just like the day I was there to capture.

From pretty portraits, Mums overwhelmed with emotion, and the sheer joy of confetti shots, to bridesmaids holding the bride’s hair in place during a windy walk, couples braving the rain and loving it, and a donkey encroaching on the bridal party photos (see above!) it’s all in here. There are also just a few quiet “still lifes” – a bride clutching her mug of tea as her hair gets done on the morning of her wedding, a wedding dress hung next to a heart-shaped collage of photos in the couples’ bedroom… I love these bits just as much as the rest. It’s often about the in-between moments as much as the big ones.

Thank you to all my amazing couples this year! I shot at some of my Bucket List venues (yay!), travelled as far as Italy and Devon and as near as North London (fifteen minutes home!), and met all you beautiful people, heard (and often cried at) your love stories, and made friends with your fantastic family and friends. I am so bloody lucky.

THANK YOU. 2016, over and out.
