This was the perfect wedding to end off 2010. Not only because it was AWESOME (it was), but because Cathy is the cousin of Craig, of Craig & Jade, who were my first wedding of 2010!  So in a way, I bookended the year with their family

The wedding was at the gorgeous Kuthaba Lodge, and although rain threatened, it held off, and just gave me some gorgeous clouds to play with. Cathy and Sean were up for anything – climbing into the ancient old fig tree was their idea, the second tree was mine, and the river paddling was theirs again. I have so much fun with fun couples like them!

My 2nd shooter was the wonderful Juanette Van Schalkwyk. We were both exhausted after this, because we’d each had a wedding the day before, so I have to give a huge shout out of thanks to my husband, who drove us to Kuthaba and back while we slept in the car!

The handcuffs have a story… Cathy and Sean met when he came over to her at a bachelor party and handcuffed himself to her – and then pretended he didn’t have the key!

When I contacted Cape Town Photographer Monica Dart and asked her if she had any weddings I could shoot with her while I was in Cape Town, she suggested Chris and Judy’s intimate home wedding. What she didn’t tell me was that Chris is a world-renowned photographer! Nothing like a bit of pressure for my first wedding in Cape Town. The second I met Chris and Judy, though, I was completely put at ease. They are both incredibly warm, funny and wonderful people, and their wedding was the epitome of chilled and laidback – not to mention full of the love of family and friends.

Chris requested we get a shot of Judy coming round a certain corner of Chapman’s Peak in the vintage Mercedes he’d organised for her.

The wedding took place at their holiday home, Villa Lara, in Llandudno.

I love that everyone wore white.

Between them Chris and Judy have five sons! Don’t they look wonderful?

It was one of the hottest days of the year in Cape Town, so it’s unsurprising that everyone ended up around the pool. I kind of wished I could join them.

The food by Urban Nosh was incredible!
