Arno and Lara were married a few weeks ago at the always gorgeous River Place. I seem to be lucky every time I shoot there, because the rain always threatens but doesn’t come, leaving us with gorgeous clouds for photos and the ability to have an outdoors reception!

What I love about River Place is there are so many different spots to hold the ceremony; this was my third wedding there and each ceremony has been in a different place (and none of them the chapel, even!). Lara and Arno used the one known as Waterfall Cove, and with the water rushing by, and the whole area surrounded by trees, it really was a magical experience.

My second shooter was the always awesome Juanette Van Schalkwyk.

Caryn and Kyle will be getting married at the end of April, so we met up a couple of weeks ago at Zoo Lake to do some fun engagement photos. They had their first date at Moyo’s at Zoo Lake, so we started there. It was one of the few actual sunny days we’ve had recently, and much as I love stormclouds, it kind of rejoiced my heart to get some sunny photos for once!

There’s something about Tom and Karen…everytime I see them they get more and more awesome. After our first meeting I thought, “this is a great couple”. Then we did their engagement shoot, and I thought “Wow, these guys are so fabulous!”. And then came their wedding day…where I was just left thinking “Damn, this couple could not be more freaking awesome if they tried.” We had SO much fun…as I’ll think you’ll see in the photos!

The wedding was held at the amazing Red Ivory Lodge, and I was thoroughly impressed. And I loved the decor Karen and Tom chose:

Look at the wine bottle – they used one of my photos from their engagement shoot on the label. LOVE.

When I entered the chapel, I asked Tom what he was going to do when Karen walked down the aisle. This was his response:

Sorry guys, I HAD to put this one in because it’s so funny. The girls kissed Karen all by themselves, so I asked the groomsman to do the same to Tom…

I was excited to find a Thai Buddha at the venue, so we could emulate this shot from their engagement shoot.

Cupcakes in a jar by Angel, The Cupcake Lady! I second shot her wedding last year. And Karen & Tom used another one of my engagement photos for the label. Awesome.

I call this “dreaming of my wedding day…”

My favourite part of the whole day was when Tom sang “I want to grow old with you” to Karen. I teared up, and I’m not ashamed to admit it!

Karen loved it too:
