A couple of days ago I was reading through the blogs I follow by photographers I admire (and there’s no shortage of them!) and this post by Michael Norwood grabbed my attention. He’d decided to blog a wedding using only candid moments, with no staged or setup shots, and no details. Just the “real” stuff. And then he challenged us to do the same.
Well, I love a challenge. I don’t pretend to be a photojournalist, and I love doing the bride & groom creative photo session, but I love the natural, emotional moments too. At the moment I happen to be finishing off editing Chiara and David’s wedding, and there were so many great moments in there I knew this was the one I had to use! I’ve already blogged it, but hey, that’s okay. Michael Norwood himself said it’s okay. And who am I to argue with Michael Norwood?
As I started selecting images I made another decision: to make the entire post black & white. I’ve always wanted to do that, but there are always so many beautiful colours at a wedding that it’s just impossible. But somehow, emotions look better in black and white…no distractions, just the “realness”.
So I give you Chiara and David, Take II.
