Italian Destination Wedding Photographer
Val (Valeria) is Italian, but lives in Brighton with British George. However, they decided to have their wedding in Italy (heck yes! Who wouldn’t?) at a church in the gorgeous seaside fisherman’s village of Boccadasse in Genova, followed by an outdoor backyard reception at Val’s grandparents’ house in the hills. And it was all so beautiful!
The day was HOT – like Raiders of the Lost Ark melt your face off hot – but everybody valiantly didn’t melt (yay for fans!) during the service, which was followed by drinks on the beachfront and some epic climbing for Val and George – and me! – to get up to the oceanview spots for photos. Then off to the reception, where thankfully it was cooler! The garden looked magical with strings of lanterns and fairylights (I adore fairylights), and the food, in typical Italian fashion, was delicious and excessive – yum!
There was also some awesome dancing. You’ll see at the end. Boy do I love it when people enjoy the dancing!
The speeches were one of my favourite parts. Because Val had lots of friends and family who don’t speak English, George made his Groom’s speech bilingual, and pulled off some amazing Italian (caveat: I don’t speak Italian but it sounded amazing to me!) in the bits where he thanked Val’s parents and family, and talked about why he loved her. I was so impressed, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. These two love each other so much, and were so excited to be getting married and spend the day with all their loved ones.
