Lucinda and Rob were married in April, the first of three weddings I went back to South Africa to shoot. They had a lovely relaxed afternoon wedding at the ever-gorgeous Shepstone Gardens in Johannesburg, and the pretty vintage chic decor completely blew me away! Belljars and ribbons and birdcages and teacups everywhere! Plus I hardly ever get to shoot outside receptions, so this was an added treat for me. Add to this that Rob and Lucinda are just lovely, sweet people, with wonderful friends and family who made me feel like I was at the party too, and a wonderful time was had by Andre (Andre Sonnekus, who was my excellent assistant shooter for the day) and me. Shooting weddings like this makes my job not seem too much like work 🙂
This post is extra image-heavy. It might also cause your brain to shut down from awesome overload. Or maybe you’ll just want to get married (possibly again) so you can plan a wedding as adorable and fun as this one.
Taryn and Marc booked me from the UK in March last year, so we only met a week before their wedding, and I was thrilled at how completely awesome they were, and how interesting and fun and sweet and in love. I was already in seventh heaven when Taryn told me her dress was designed by the fabulous Abigail Betz, so I must have hit eighth heaven when I actually SAW it. And the decor….swoonworthy. All by the fantastic Eve from Splendid Affairs, of course. And Taryn’s stunning vintage makeup was done by the super-talented Sam Scaife from Lashline (I’m running out of adjectives to describe all the wonderful people who were involved in this wedding!)
I think I’ll just let the pictures tell the story…
When I did their engagement shoot I knew I was in for a treat with Chiara and David’s wedding, and I wasn’t wrong! I completely adore this couple, and their wedding was so beautiful and heartfelt while being so much fun at the same time, that I don’t even know how to express it!
So here’s a few zillion pictures instead. Thanks to my awesome friend Hannelie from Hannalee Photography for second shooting for me! And to the ever-fabulous Eve from Splendid Affairs, who did all the flowers, decor and co-ordination!
The fabric on Chiara’s bouquet was the same as her dress! I love attention to detail 🙂
And then there was a PARTY. Oh my, was there ever a party. I don’t think you’ve lived as a photographer till you’ve been stuck in the middle of a Horah.
Oh David, you rock.
Chiara and David, you two are such a gorgeous, beautiful, and special couple. Thank you so much for choosing me to capture your day! Enjoy Thailand and Malaysia. 🙂
Barbara and Jason were married last Saturday at the always phenomenal Shepstone Gardens, and it was such a gorgeous and happy event. I think you know you’re really involved emotionally in a wedding when you’re taking pictures of the mothers of the bride and groom crying during the speeches, and they start pointing and laughing because you’re crying too (yes, this happened). Barbara’s father reminded me so much of my own, the bridesmaids were like rays of sunshine in their flowing yellow dresses, and Barbara looked stunning in her fairytale ballerina-inspired dress, complete with ballet slippers (which unfortunately didn’t last long; double-sided tape is not all it’s cracked up to be).
Here are some of my favourites from their day. Thanks to the wonderful Melanie Wessels for assisting me again. You can see her photos of the day here.
Oh and Barbara and Jason’s Engagement at the zoo is here, go check that out too.
I loved this next idea! Barbara and Jason used one of my photos from their engagement session and had a frame custom-made, on which the guests could inscribe their messages and well-wishes.
One of the best “I caught the bouquet!” faces EVER!
Barbara and Jason, thank you for having me as part of your wonderful day. And thanks to Marielle and the staff at Shepstone Gardens for being amazing as always!
